The Department of Psychology in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC; http://psy.ustc.edu.cn) has been established in 2020. The over-arching goal of the department is to serve the major needs of the society by conducting advanced research focusing on cognitive science, psychology, public health, social science, and other relevant interdisciplinary subjects.
We are now inviting talented scientists from all over the world to join us in one of the following disciplines including but not limited to educational psychology, developmental psychology, cognitive psychology, neuroimaging, neuroengineering, neuromodulation, computer science, statistics, and artificial intelligence, etc. Candidates from related but extended research fields are also encouraged to apply.
USTC seeks to fill the following faculty positions at all ranks in the Department of Psychology:
1. Chair Professor/Department Chair (Tenured Position, Phd Advisor)
Candidates should hold positions equivalent to associate professors or above in well-known universities or research institutions overseas. For those with outstanding academic achievements, standards on professional ranks and working experiences may be negotiated.
Candidates should not have returned to China for any full-time employment yet, or have returned to China for less than 1 year up to the time of application. After receiving the offer, the candidate should resign from all overseas positions, and join us to work full time for at least 3 years.
Candidates have obtained the Ministry of Education's overseas special appointment or the A-category project of the Chinese Academy of Sciences or the same level projects (Application support will be provided in full).
Domestic candidates should hold professor positions in tier I universities or research institutions, with recognized academic achievements at a leading level in the field, and preferably with administrative experiences.
2. Professor (Tenured Position, Phd Advisor)
Candidates should hold positions equivalent to associate professors or above in well-known universities or research institutions overseas. Domestic candidates should hold professor positions.
Candidates should be under 45 years old. Flexibility may be provided to candidates with outstanding academic achievements.
3. Associate Professor (Tenured Position)
Candidates should hold academic and technical positions at vice-senior rank in well-known domestic and overseas universities or research institutions, such as tenure-track assistant professor, or senior research fellow.
Candidates should fit within the development direction of the department.
4. Overseas Excellent Youth Program Professor (Tenure-track, Phd Advisor)
Candidates should have a doctoral degree and be under 40 years old (born after 1/1/1983).
Candidates should hold formal academic/research positions (assistant professor, postdoc, and etc.) in overseas universities, research institutions, or corporative R&D facilities, for at least 36 consecutive months. For those who have obtained a doctorate degree overseas with outstanding academic achievements, requirements for prior work experiences can be negotiated.
Candidates should not have returned China, or have returned after 1/1/2022.
Candidates should demonstrate recognizable scientific and technological achievements, and show the potential to become academic leaders in the field.
5. The B-category Project of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Professor (Tenure-track, Phd Advisor)
Candidates should have obtained a doctoral degree and be under 45 years old, and have reached the level of outstanding academic and technical backbone skills for professional and technical positions.
Overseas candidates should have at least 3 consecutive years of scientific research experience (e.g., postdoc) in well-known scientific research institutions, universities or R&D institutions overseas after obtaining a doctorate degree. The required working experience may be appropriately relaxed for those who have obtained a doctorate degree overseas and have outstanding achievements.
Domestic candidates should have at least 3 years of scientific research experience in well-known scientific research institutions, universities or R&D institutions after obtaining a doctorate degree or have experience as associate professors or equivalent positions.
The position will receive almost comparable funding support to the Overseas Excellent Youth Program Professor.
6. Associate Research Faculty
In principle, candidates should be under 45 years old, with postdoctoral training experiences.
Requirement for postdoctoral experiences may be waived for candidates who obtain their doctoral degree from well-known universities overseas with outstanding academic achievements.
Domestic candidates should hold professional and technical positions at intermediate rank or above in well-known universities or research institutions. Outstanding postdoctoral fellows are also encouraged to apply.
7. Postdoctoral fellow
Candidates should have obtained a doctoral degree and be under 35 years old.
Candidates should have published research articles in SCI/SSCI journals as the first author or co-first author.
Application tips: Candidates may apply for different ranks at the same time. Once accepted, final employment will be made at the highest rank, or per the candidate’s preference. Competitive salary and benefits will be provided. In addition, varying housing options will be provided, determined by the final employment rank. For all ranks, employees at USTC can take advantage of the Child Education Program (K-12) at the USTC affiliated kindergarten, elementary school, middle school, and high school which rank at the top among public schools in Anhui.
